Accessibility Statement

As part of ensuring equal participation for all people in everyday life, online services should also be accessible to people with disabilities without the need for assistance from others. We are committed to making our website accessible and designing it in such a way that it complies with national legislation implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications, as well as the relevant published harmonised standards (EN 301 549) or the relevant parts of those standards, as amended from time to time.

This accessibility statement applies to the website of Naturheilpraxis Ramona Mertens at the address “https://www.ramona-mertens.de” in both desktop and mobile views, including their respective sub-sections, but does not apply to other websites linked to from within this website.

Status of compliance with the requirements for accessible information technology:

This website is based on the TYPO3 Bootstrap package, which was tested on 29 August 2023 by the BIK testing body and found to be officially accessible in accordance with the WCAG 2.1 standard and EN 301 549. The assessment of compliance with the requirements for accessible information technology is based on a self-assessment, taking into account the underlying legal provisions and guidelines mentioned above, as well as the relevant guidance documents (primarily the BITV self-assessment via the ‘BIK für Alle’ project (bik-fuer-alle.de) as well as online tests using LERA and the Mozilla Developer Tools (Accessibility features). LERA (https://advancedbytez.com/lera/) is an automated, web-based tool for accessibility testing and reporting, and has successfully tested the site against the success criteria of WCAG 2.1 Levels A and AA. Mozilla is the publisher of the Firefox web browser and provides integrated tools for web developers (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/accessibility-features-firefox)

With the ability to navigate the website using the keyboard, adjust font sizes and change contrast settings, along with a text-to-speech function, a clear structure and the special design of the content and files provided, this website meets a large proportion of the requirements for perceivability, usability, understandability and robustness. However, it is not entirely possible to translate content – other than brief bullet-point information or links to files and web pages – into ‘plain language’ and/or ‘simple language’; consequently, this website is not yet fully compliant with accessibility guidelines. However, work is gradually being carried out to translate the editorial content into both ‘plain language’ (where possible) and other languages, in order to enable people with limited knowledge of German to participate as fully as possible.

Non-accessible content and reasons:

The current state of the technology used does not (yet) allow for a fully accessible design. We are continuously working to improve the accessibility of the site as far as possible. For example, new PDF files uploaded to the site almost fully comply with accessibility guidelines. Unfortunately, for older data (archives), accessibility requirements cannot be met, or can only be met in part, due to the time at which they were created. We would also like to make content that is not immediately accessible available to everyone and are therefore happy to provide an alternative option where necessary. Should any part of the website not be accessible via keyboard functions, or should the functionality for a screen reader or other assistive technologies occasionally be unsatisfactory, we would be grateful for any feedback and will work to rectify the issue. The launch of this new version of the website may initially require some necessary corrections, but we will work to rectify these as soon as they come to our attention.
